昭和十三年建築の元所長社宅のリノベーションと造園を行った。直島の宮浦港を俯瞰する高台に立つ立地を活かし、瀬戸内海を広く眺望する最高の迎賓館に仕上がった。
コの字型の伝統的日本建築の形を残し、様々な催しにも対応できるユーティリティーに富んだ建築空間を目指しデザインされた「菱濤館」は、茶室・広間・洋間・眺望抜群の板の間の4つの客間と4つの庭から構成される。家具は香川のメーカー「モリシゲ」の特注(漆仕上げ)。照明は京都のアンティークなど空間に合わせ厳選した。襖紙もオリジナルでさざ波をデザインするなど、細かなディテールまでこだわった。また、主茶室の床は二間半あり、壁は瀬戸内の夕景をデザイン。また袖棚は雲の彫刻、円窓は朧月を表現。長押には京都に1本しかなかった胡麻角竹を使うなど贅を凝らしている。

Ryoutoukan:
Naoshima Smelting Factory, Mitsubishi material
We did the renovation of a house of the previous chief director of Mitsubishi material which was built in 1938, and also the landscape gardening of the site.
Making good use of its geographical situation on a hill, the guesthouse "Ryoutoukan" has been given a beautiful open view of Miyanoura port of Naoshima and Setouchi interior sea.
In the site, each room contributes to form a large square, leaving one side opened to the garden, that is a Japanese traditional architectural composition.
"Ryoutoukan", built aiming to be a space with a full range of utilities which can deal with divers events, has four rooms and four gardens: tea room, main room, Europian style room and wooden floor.
We aokoubou strictly selected only the furnitures and lightings, without neglecting any detail, that perfectly suiedt to the space.
